2025 is a special year for all who admire or own Jaguar motor cars. It is 90 years since the name “Jaguar” first appeared on William Lyon’s SS Jaguar 100. Over the winter, JCSNE been working together with Water’s Edge Resort in Westbrook, Connecticut to arrange a special event to celebrate this anniversary, which will be held over the weekend of the 3rd/4th May.
IMPORTANT: We are planning several activities over the weekend, but for the planned Saturday night banquet we need your commitment as soon as possible (before March 1st) if we are to secure the private room we will need to hold the event. “Back to 1935” will start with a guided local afternoon drive on Saturday the 3rd. All classic vehicles, especially Jaguars, are welcome (we expect some of the exhibit vehicles will join us as well). We have not yet finalized the details, but we may also join other classic car enthusiasts at a car show in Essex, which is highlighting pre-1925 vehicles {more details to follow on the Saturday driving event will follow soon)
Following the drive on Saturday evening we are planning to hold a private banquet at the Water’s Edge Resort. This will be an opportunity to meet other club members and socialize with Jaguar owners from further afield. We are hoping to have a guest speaker (though details have not been finalized). The cost per head for the banquet will be $80 (including tax and tip but not including beverages). Because we need to commit to the room reservation and number of attendees in advance, we are asking all who wish to attend to make a banquet reservation at our website before the 1st of March.
We have also made arrangements for a special discount rate for rooms at the resort on Saturday evening for those who wish to stay overnight and make this a special weekend. The “Back to 1935” exhibition will take place on Sunday May 4th. We have pre-arranged a special exhibition of Jaguar Vehicles spanning the decades, including the cars that made Jaguar famous (XKE, 60's saloons and the more modern F-type), as well as lesser known and more modern models . These vehicles will be displayed on the ocean-side lawns and patios surrounding the Water’s Edge, a perfect & photogenic setting for these historic and elegant automobiles.
Note: the vehicles that we will be exhibiting have been pre-selected to represent the history of Jaguar and arrangements made with the exhibitors to attend. As a result, we are not expecting those who attend the banquet or exhibition as guests to bring their cars to show (though you are, of course, welcome to bring your Jaguars to join us on the Saturday drive, and there will be ample parking in the regular parking lots at the resort. Many thanks to those who have committed in advance to exhibiting their vehicles (we will be contacting you shortly with additional information)
During the exhibition, we are inviting all our club members (and the public) to join us for a fabulous Sunday brunch and refreshments. There is no charge for entry to the exhibition, which will run from 10:00am - 2pm; Brunch will run from 9am-2:30pm. The Waters’s Edge Resort are famous for their award-winning dining experience, and especially their Sunday Brunches, so this should be a chance to feast while viewing the exhibit vehicles, chatting with owners and chatting about all things automobile with other guests while wondering the hotel grounds. All attendees will be responsible for their own payment for the brunch, direct to the Waters’ Edge (price is $49 per head), which reflects the incredible variety and quality available).
